The Gamer Infinity SLI 8800's scores in Futuremark 3DMark06 are the highest we've ever seen: a mind blowing 19,087 @ 1,280x1,024 resolution, 17,922 @ 1,600x1,200, and 13,545 @ 2,560x1,600. The Cyberpower entry's average frame rates of 265 frames per second, 189fps, and 79.7fps in our DirectX 9 (DX9) Company of Heroes (at the same three resolutions) were likewise the top of the top. And the extremely demanding Supreme Commander, benchmarked at the same three resolutions, has also never looked or played better, with average frame rates of 67.1fps, 64.7fps, and 59.5fps. The two nVidia GeForce 8800 GT graphics cards, connected in a Scalable Link Interface (SLI) configuration, provide huge amounts of bang for fewer bucks for DX9 and most DX10 tasks, so you don't need to worry about being left out in the cold when the next latest-and-greatest title is released. And since the system uses a motherboard sporting nVidia's newest 780i chipset, you could even add a third graphics card for still more performance. In fact, the only antiquated thing about the Gamer Infinity SLI 8800 is its RAM: It's loaded with cheaper DDR2, not DDR3, so you won't get every drop of efficiency from that. Of course, since you still get 4GB of it (on two DIMMs), you're likely not to notice much. Also neatly packed in the tool-less Coolermaster Cosmo case: two optical drives (one 18x DVD±RW, one 16x DVD-ROM), three hard drives (two 150GB drives in a RAID Level 0 configuration, one 500GB for storage), a 12-format flash-card reader, wireless networking, and a liquid-cooling system. Additionally, you get a Logitech MX keyboard-and-mouse combo pack and a six-piece speaker set, as well as a 22-inch wide-screen monitor (which maxes out at 1,680x1,050 resolution). The operating system is the 64-bit version of Windows Vista Home Premium. This desktop PC is just perfect.

HTC was the first to respond to Apple’s iPhone with the introduction of the Touch, which introduced an interactive sliding interface on top of the standard Windows Mobile shell designed for fingers rather than a stylus. With the Touch Diamond the TouchFlo interface is wizzier than every, but a stylus still lurks in the bottom right hand corner and there’s no doubt that you’ll still be using it on a regular basis. At least taking the stylus out turns on the screen automatically, which is a nice touch. As far as specifications and features its hard not to be impressed with what the Touch Diamond offers - even more so when one actually sees the size of the device, which its dimensions of only 51mm x 11.5mm x 102mm. It also weighs only 110g, lighter than many regular consumer phones. In fact if anything, it’s too light. While it’s compact and smooth, the actual build quality does leave something to be desired and the cheap plastic finish doesn’t impart an impression of a solid business device. In fact, removing the phone from my pocket in the pub while testing garnered a reaction of, “what’s that, it looks like a toy!” from a colleague. However, there’s no arguing with the uber thin profile, which makes it easy to slip into a pocket and pleasant to hold.
Despite the size, the Diamond is brimming over features wise. It’s powered by Windows Mobile 6.1, the main benefits of which are concerned with the default Windows Mobile home screen. However, as TouchFlo 3D is present these benefits are rather redundant anyway. You do get threaded text messages at least, though certainly the presentation doesn’t match the iPhone.Perhaps to justify the name the rear of the phone feature a quite clever cover, split into multi-faceted, diamond style triangles. The 3.2 megapixel camera is surrounded by a silver triangle, just in case you haven’t spotted it. The only buttons are all oblong, one for power at the top and two for volume up and down at the side. The power button in particular has no travel to speak of making it awkward to turn on and off.The Touch Diamond is of course keyboard free, though there are four buttons that sit underneath the display and flush with it.As a whole, the Touch Diamond is simply not quite the great leap in usability HTC was promising and overall I find it hard to imagine that anyone who has a chance to play with both side by side will choose the Diamond over an iPhone. Only the front camera and video recording capability are significant features it has over the Apple.

Cuil, better than Google.

For a lot of people Google is the best online search engine in the world, but some people don't think like that. Some of them are the people who created Cuil, and they say that Cuil has a bigger data base and searches the web faster than Google. Cuil was created by Tom Costello (professor at Stanford) and he's wife Ana Peterson, former employee at Google Co., and she left only to create Cuil. There are some differences between Cuil and Google, lets say like if your searching "google" on Cuil, you wont get the web page Google.com like on Google, instead you'll get pages like Google Earth, Google Maps etc. Cuil doesn't remember what you searched in the search bar, just because they think that's "interruption" of the users privacy. Well just have to wait and see if this is as they say it is, better than Google.

Apple, iPhone, 3G, History

It's been a long time, but Apple finally took the wraps off its new 3G iPhone. Thinner edges, full plastic back, flush headphone jack, and the iPhone 2.0 firmware -- Apple's taking a lot of the criticisms to heart from the first time around. Obviously 3G is at the forefront, but they're also making sure it's available all over internationally, works with enterprises, runs 3rd party apps... and does it all for cheaper. Apple claims its 3G speeds trounce the competition, with pageloads 36% faster than the N95 and Treo 750 -- and of course it completely trounces the old EDGE data speeds.

Battery life isn't getting put out to pasture though, with 300 hours of standby, 8-10 hours of 2G talk, 5 hours of 3G talk, 7 hours of video and 24 hours of audio. GPS is also a go. Apple is using A-GPS, which supplements regular satellite GPS data with info from cellular towers for faster location. (WiFi data is also worked into the mix, which should give users a pretty solid lock on where the heck they are on this planet.) Unfortunately, as expected there's no front-facing cam, and while its edges are thinner than before it's still about a millimeter thicker at the center (12.3mm over 11.6mm before). Apple hopes to launch in 70 countries this year, with the black 8GB going for $199 and 16GB for $299 in black or white. (Both price points require a contract, of course.) Apple will be hitting the 22 biggest markets, including the US, on July 11th. More info after the break.

Google's KNOL

Google released its on online encyclopedia, in Wiki's concept and its named Knol. The name comes from the word knowledge. Unlike Wiki, in Knol you can see who wrote the article. It should have the same option like Wiki to add more info on one article, but the problem whit Wiki is that a lot of people add wrong information to the article so people dont get the thing that they are looking for. Google's plan to solve that is by saving the name of the person who wrote the article, so if he's is wright he gets credit for it and if not he's added to the black list :) I cant say more about it, cause there is a lil bit time left 'till Knol comes out, and I just know that it will be a big success.

Another spammer behind bars.

Today another spammer was caught by the police and sentenced to 2 and a half years in prison for spamming over 1.2 million people registered on AOL in 2005. Adam Vital (27 y.o) admitted that he broke the anti-spam rule's, and besides the jail sentence he has to pay AOL 180000 $. To send all the spam messages and to shut down the spam and junk filters on AOL he used several PC's. In the spamming process he was helped by Tod Moler, who also received a sentence (for 27 mounts), but last year. Does spamming pays off?

The elemeNt is back!

As I said in the opening lines of the first post, we'll try to cover the gaming scene too. The first post will be about the gaming legend Ola "elemeNt" Moum. I'll start by writing something about him, he is born on 24 June 1986 in in Oslo, Norway. He quit gaming while he was playing for mYm 2007(Meet you're makers). He started playing counter-strike professionally for the Norwegian team Meredia, but reached his fame by playing in the legendary eoL(eoLithic) clan considered as one of the biggest and most successful teams ever. His dominance continued trough out his carrier, when he moved to gaming heavy weight SK-Gaming, as captain of the team for almost a year in 2003 and 2004, whit his help SK-Gaming won every tournament they attended during his "stay", including two world championship titles. Then he moved to NoA. He was the first major Counter-Strike player being bought out of contract by a rival team (from SK-Gaming to team NoA). When he left SK-Gaming lowered their performances, and won nothing that year. AND NOW ELEMENT IS BACK AND READY TO KICK ASS. elemeNt in my opinion is the best counter-strike player that ever appeared on the gaming scene. This year he joined The Gathering, the team that won the Norwegian qualifier for the biggest event of the year, after ESWC, WCG 2008, which will be held in California. He said he is back to do the thing that he loves the most, and btw :) to go to WCG and to win it hopefully, I don't really think they will win tho, but we'll have to wait and see, cause just like in football, in counter-strike any thing can happen. Ola was one hell of a player, but we'll have to wait until WCG '08 to see how he'll perform now after he’s retirement. I just wanna add, Good Luck and Welcome back Ola.

Ola in SK.

ROKR E8

This time I'm going to move a bit from the PCs and write about the new ROKR E8 from Motorola. After an almost ending carrier, Motorola is up n'trying to get back on the market with the new ROKR E8 which is supposed to reach the same fame and glory as the RAZR, well that's at least what the team from Motorola is saying :) The new phone is using the MakeShift technology, which allows you see only the needed key on the keyboard, let say if you're listening to music you're only going to see the keys like play, pause, fast forward, rewind and nothing more then the necessary. When the phone is not active or is shut down, you don't see any keys, because the keyboard is virtual so the surface where the key board is supposed to be becomes smooth, but when you activate the phone the keys are visible again, and by hitting the music button you only see the keys that I mentioned before. While we're going trough the keys, Id like to mention that there is one fastscroll key, which allows you, ass the name says, scroll fast trough the files that you have one the phone. The screen isn't that big, but still its satisfying (TFT 320 x 240 pixels, 2.0 inches, 256K colors). It has 2 GB internal user memory, which can be powered up by a MicroSD memory card, holding up to 2 GB i think. It looks like a nice phone, but we'll have to wait and see, at least I :) Oh I forgot to write something about the keyboard, as you all ready figured it out the most important part of the phone :), its not like the standard touch keypads, its sensitive to vibrations and motions so its like pressing a real keyboard. That's it for this phone, now we just gotta sit back and wait to see if Motorola made the wright move with this phone.
